What Chroma does

Chroma is an embedding database designed to be simple to run locally or self-hosted, used to store and query vector embeddings for retrieval-augmented generation and semantic search. Its focus is on developer experience over the scale of larger vector databases. It integrates directly with popular frameworks like LangChain and LlamaIndex, so it's a common first choice for new RAG projects.
