What Jupyter does

Jupyter provides browser-based notebooks that mix live code, visualizations, and narrative text, most commonly used with Python for data analysis and machine learning. Self-hosting it gives a team a shared, persistent notebook server instead of relying on a hosted notebook service. JupyterLab, its modern interface, adds a file browser, terminal access, and multiple notebooks side by side in one browser tab.
