What MySQL does
MySQL is a relational database used across web applications of every size, from small sites to large-scale platforms, known for broad tooling and hosting support. It remains the default database for much of the PHP and WordPress ecosystem. InnoDB, its default storage engine, provides the transactional guarantees most web applications rely on for consistent data.
